54. View of World's Largest Cross Country Skis
Founded in 1862, with a population of close to 2,000 making their home in the Southern Cariboo, 100 Mile House is home to the World's Largest Cross Country Skis. In the 70's and 80's the Cariboo cross country ski marathon was a popular event, however lack of volunteers and snow has forced cancelation of the marathon again this year. The Cariboo ski marathon attracts a large and international field of Nordic skiers. Their trails are maintained by the 100 Mile House Nordic Ski Society and by the report on their website, skiing has been sporadic with rain and snowing changing their weekly trail report.
My last photo before I head home on the Greyhound bound for Vancouver.
